Instead of being a free port, which is impossible because of its size, Rotterdam contains some 600 bondes warehouses where 95% of the imported commoditier are stored. The customs formalities are completed when a ships arrives in the port and a general declaration is submitted to the customs authorities. The declaration contains a statement of the goods. A copy of big tits at school declaration is kept by the custom authorities and then the goods may be unloaded and stored in a bonded warehouse. The goods leave the warehouse when their destination is confirmed and a customs declaration is lodged by the party concerned. The goods may be imported into the Netherlands or transported in bond to another country. The customs declaration serves customs for keeping their records and is alos used in order to make spot checks of the goods.
